While still a few years away, with Avengers: Secret Wars' release date always having the chance to shift due to the many schedule changes the MCU has had so far — including The Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts recently swapping release dates — the film that will end the MCU's Multiverse Saga is already being heavily speculated upon. Among Avengers: Secret Wars' many topics of discussion is the movie's cast.
Avengers: Endgame is the closest MCU offering to compare to what Secret Wars should be. The 2019 film — perhaps the best Avengers movie — featured several MCU heroes, with Avengers: Endgame's final battle between Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and more MCU character against Thanos and his army was the closest superhero movies have come to feeling exactly like the comics. Before playing Deathstroke in a brief role in the DCEU, Joe Manganiello got to give life to a key supporting character from Spider-Man comics — Flash Thompson — in director Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy. While Flash was never much more than a regular bully in that iteration of the franchise, the character has been known to bond with the Venom symbiote in the comics and other media. Speaking to Comicbook.com, Manganiello revealed that he would play Agent Venom in the MCU. Check out what the actor had to say about playing Agent Venom for Marvel Studios below:

"Would I love to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? I mean, sure. Of course it'd be fun in the right project. I heard Sam Raimi's doing Secret Wars, is that right? I don't know, man. I don't much about [Agent Venom], I'd imagine that'd be over at Sony. It would be very funny to come back that way."

In the comics, Agent Venom is a different version of the character from the one audiences are more familiar with. For starters, Agent Venom is most famously Flash Thompson, not Eddie Brock, who was the version of the character played by Topher Grace in Raimi's Spider-Man 3 and Tom Hardy in Sony's Spider-Man Universe. The character is also not a villain, with Agent Venom being portrayed as a more heroic figure. Following his time as a bully, Flash Thompson's comic book image has moved towards an ally for Peter Parker for some time, which could now happen for Manganiello's version.
How Agent Venom Could Appear In Secret Wars Spider-Man: No Way Home Opened The Door For That

Manganiello's Flash Thompson was last seen in a cameo in Spider-Man 3. The movie showed that he might have worked on his relationship with Peter and Mary Jane, as Flash was present for Harry Osborn's funeral. That more positive take on Manganiello's version of the character can continue in Avengers: Secret Wars. The MCU is bound to use characters from all over Marvel's live-action past for the film, and as Grace's Venom was not received well, having Manganiello's Flash Thompson — arguably the best live-action version of the character — don the Venom symbiote could lead to a major moment.
Like in the comics, Manganiello's Flash Thompson could have served in the army, losing both of his legs while serving bravely. While the Venom symbiote was presumably destroyed in the explosion in Spider-Man 3's ending, a small piece of it could have remained — similarly to what happened in the MCU. Given how Manganiello's Flash Thompson had already seemingly had a change of heart and left his bully days in the past, he could have become Agent Venom since he was last seen. Avengers: Secret Wars could then pull in Maguire's Spider-Man, Agent Venom, and other characters from Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy.

Based on how well the returns of Maguire, Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, Alfred Molina's Doc Ock, and Thomas Haden Church Sandman were received, it would make sense for the MCU to use more Raimi characters.
